“Music Licensing & Positioning Yourself for Success” Co-Presented by Impulse Artist Series, Spacetaker and TALA Hosted at Spacetaker Monday, December 12, 2011

In this day and age, many artists are creating work for themselves by becoming more entrepreneurial in their endeavors. This two-part career seminar for musicians (from classical to indie rock and more) will cover relevant topics for the development of a musician’s or music group’s career: Marketing & Copyright

Texas Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts staff attorney and musician Erin Rodgers will cover the ins and outs of copyright laws & licensing as it relates to musicians. Including:
• How to copyright
• How to license your work or how others can license your work
• Infringement laws
• Public domain
• Mistakes to avoid when it comes to protecting and promoting your work

Classical musician, entrepreneurial rockstar, and founder of Impulse Artist Series Jade Simmons will engage the audience in a conversation about how we, as artists, can make ourselves relative and profitable without feeling like we’re selling out. She’ll also cover:
• How to uncover your artistic identity and brand
• How to look at what other strengths you have that you can monetize and strengthen your position as a step above the rest
• Positioning and audience development
• Building a tangible, marketable package – in essence, how to stand out to a presenter

This seminar is co-presented by Impulse Artist Series, Texas Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts, and Spacetaker.
