“What Non-Profits Need to Know About Social Media” at United Way of Greater Houston Presented by Houston TSCPA Foundation, United Way of Greater Houston, and TALA, Wednesday, September 15, 2010

In the rapidly evolving world of electronic communications, nonprofits are faced with an intimidating array of new opportunities–and risks. This session is designed to help you navigate various local, state and national tax issues regarding online solicitaion and donations as well as security and privacy concerns. The esteemed panel of legal experts will include Debra Bruce, President, Lawyer-Coach, LLC; and Alison Sulentic, Chuck Campbell and Krisa Benskiin, Baker Botts LLP

Providing an overview of branding and marketing for non-profits, Mary will discuss strategies to generate higher level ask appeal, help define what the intended outcomes of a marketing campaign should be, and address the importance of branding as it relates to fundraising and community building. “The Roaring 20’s” Gala, Saturday, October 2, 2010

Join TALA for its 2010 Gala “The Roaring 20’s” a celebration of Texas art and music! TALA recognizes the artistic achievements and contributions of visionary Texas artists The Art Guys who will be honored with TALA’s annual Artist of the Year award. TALA will also recognize the distinguished volunteer service of Advisory Board Member Robert Schuller, who will receive the Karen Susman Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award. This year’s Gala will be held at Gallery M Squared, 339 W. 19th Street, Houston, TX 77008. Live music and a silent auction will round out the evening. Tickets are still available at the $150 level.
