Got a legal or accounting question? Please stop by our upcoming Legal and Accounting Open House program this Saturday November 13, 2010 from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Artists and representatives of arts nonprofits will have access to a short consultation with a legal or accounting professional at the Spacetaker Artist Resource Center (2101 Winter Street, Houston, TX 77007). Preference is given to those who make appointments, but walk-ins are also welcome. Please contact [email protected] in order to make an appointment. When it comes to taxes and taxing authorities, ignorance is never an excuse. An invaluable workshop for all non-profits large or small, this session will equip you with vital information about a broad spectrum of tax and financial topics subject to regulations that can also have a negative impact on your bottom line.
Topics covered include: property tax appraisal districts; sales tax; employee vs. independent contractor rules; payroll taxes; and issues relatd to raffles, gaming, gambling and casino events.
